Start Again: Why It’s Never Too Late to Become Who You’re Meant to Be
There’ve been a million times I’ve felt like I was too far behind for my work to matter.
When I had a third child 12 years after my first one.
When I started over in college after a career and three kids.
When I learned a second language at 28.
When I left my second career to become a writer.
When I opened my coaching business before coaching was even “a thing.”
When I started my fitness journey at 40.
There are at least a hundred other moments that nearly broke me—some done to me, some done by me. (The kind I don’t even like to admit out loud.)
And in every one of those seasons, I looked at the road ahead and thought:
“I’ll never make it through this.”
I wanted to quit.
People gave me permission to quit.
And yes, I did quit—more than once. (Just not forever.)
But then I started again.
Not because it was easy.
Not because it felt inspiring.
Not because I had some perfectly laid out plan.
Sometimes I had to let go of things that were easy and joyful just to keep moving forward on the thing I knew mattered more.
I’m not positive I did it “right.”
But I am positive I’m a different woman because I kept showing up for the hard things—especially the ones I thought I’d never survive.
That’s what personal leadership looks like.
It’s not polished.
It’s not perfect.
It’s not always pretty.
It’s choosing to keep going when burnout recovery feels impossible. It’s believing in your self-worth when shame tells you to quit. It’s embracing the high-achiever mindset—but letting it be powered by compassion, not comparison. It’s spiritual resilience when your soul feels heavy.
Maybe you’re there now.
Feeling too far behind.
Wondering if it’s too late to change.
Afraid it’ll take too long.
But hear me:
It’s not too late.
You’re not too far gone.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
Take a breath.
Take a beat.
Then take the next step.
Because you’re becoming someone you haven’t even met yet. And that version of you? She’s worth showing up for.
